  • Being the capital of Hungary, Budapest boasts in its green parks which reveal its natural beauty. The city is filled with charming pleasures, inspiring museums, plus a super exciting nightlife similar to other countries in Europe.
  • The city actually contains two distinct cities – Buda and Pest. The first is found on the west bank and the latter is on the east bank of Danube River.

The Life:

  • Budapest belongs to the most fascinating and pleasurable cities, if not of the world, of Europe. It enjoys a seemingly perfect location, memorable monument and hospitable people. With its evident beauty, travelers are easily attracted to the appeal of this place.

Cost of Living:

  • It is inexpensive to visit Budapest. Meals typically cost $8 or $9 for each. If eating with someone in a midrange restaurant, a meal that includes three courses will cost about $37.
  • US tourists who plan to stay longer can opt to rent an apartment. Monthly rent is pretty cheap, approximately $280 to $360 for single-room accommodations. If travelling with friends, an apartment with three bedrooms cost $500 to $620.

Poker:

  • Poker has been rapidly growing in popularity in the city. There are poker rooms which are newly-opened, welcoming beginners, advanced players as well as professionals. Open tournaments are few though.

Internet Access:

  • The city is among the most Wi-Fi enabled areas in Europe. There are several Wi-Fi hotspots offered for free all throughout Budapest.

Weather:

  • The weather is temperate in the place. Winters are usually cold and damp while summers are warm and hot. July and August have mostly bright and sunny days; May and June have wet days.
  • Springtime and autumn are the best times to visit Budapest which is around the month of October.

U.S. Visa/Entry Difficulty Level:

  • No visa is required for US tourists for travel to Budapest. However, other traveling documents will need to be presented upon entry. The passport needs to be valid for at least three months beyond the desired stay in the country.

Language:

  • Hungarian is the official language in the place. US tourists can have the chance of learning their language through some language schools available in town.

Food:

  • Some of the local specialties that are worth trying include paprika, pörkölt, halászlé and stuffed cabbage.
  • There are a lot of coffeehouses, restaurants and other great places to dine in Budapest. But there are tourist traps such as Váci utca that should be avoided.

Recreation:

  • Budapest is proud of its music, which is considered a language that needs not be spoken. US tourists can marvel on one of the operas that are usually presented in the State Opera House. Either that or the classical music performances in concert halls.
  • It is best for tourists to have a map to ensure that they cover all the attractions on their list. Locals are willing to help; they would even suggest on areas that is bet to go and not to go.
  • Festivals are worth anticipating as well. The Sziget Festival, for instance, typically attracts rock fans and world music hippies and takes place in August.
  • US tourists who want to maintain their sporty life will take pleasure in the various offers f health club services.  There are also yoga clubs, riding schools, tennis courts, swimming pools and more.

Safety:

  • Pickpockets are the most common crimes encountered by tourists. However, the rate for pickpockets is still low for US standards. But following the basic rules is unlikely to bring problems.
