Dalian, China
- Dalian is a very large city in the Province of Liaoning, Dongbei, China. It is a famous travel destination of both local tourists and foreign visitors.
- The city is filled with several parks as well as green hills that make it such a pleasant city not just to visit but to live as well.

The Life:
- Adventures and entertainment make up the life in Dalian. While there could be beaches and other attractions on one side, the other side of the place offers great options for entertainment. Theaters as well as concert halls are present both for local and international events.
- Nightlife ends as early as 10 pm in the city but the formal bar closes at 2 am.
Cost of Living:
- Food is inexpensive in Dalian. Fast food and sit down meals can be as cheap as $2. An accommodation that includes internet and everything costs $400 every month. Two bedrooms within the city cost $1200 per month, outside the city generally costs around $800 a month.
- As for other goods, real stuff can be expensive and fake is cheap. There are lots of fake stuff in the place.
Poker:
- Online poker is limited. Moreover, running online poker sites is not allowed in the country.
Internet Access/Speed:
- Internet cafes are found in almost every street corner. This is especially true in residential areas as well as around universities. Some coffee shops such as Amici and Starbucks offer Wi-Fi and they are scattered all over the city.
Weather:
- Summers are hot in Dalian and winters are cold. June, July and August are the summer months and the time where the beaches are very busy.
- Spring and autumn are the best seasons of the year to visit Dalian. The months covered in these two seasons include April and May for spring and September to October for autumn.
U.S. Visa/Entry Difficulty Level:
- A visa is required for US tourists and application requirements may slightly differ from state to state.
- Multi-entry visas may easily be obtained but that should make tourists leave the country every after two or three months.
Language:
- Mandarin is the primary language in Dalian. English though may be increasingly spoken in the place, remains to be a language difficult to understand.
Language Schools:
- Language schools do exist in Dalian. Dalian Foreign Languages University is one of the schools that offer courses to foreign students.
Food:
- The city’s local cuisine is more on buns, pancakes, dumplings and the like. These types of food are preferred over rice and noodles.
- Dalian’s seafood dishes are worth trying as well. Fish dishes in China literally refer to everything edible that comes from the sea.
- There is a long list of restaurants available in the city which should be a wonderful chance for US tourists to explore the area. There are western and Asian restaurants too.
Recreation:
- The beaches are among the best features of Dalian. Some beaches are overcrowded and some can cost a lot. With this, Fujiazhuang Beach is the most recommended place for swimming and sunbathing.
- US tourists can travel along the city’s Binhai Road, a nice-looking winding coastal road. There are a number of attractions to view just by taking a walk along the Binhai Road. However, those who are less adventurous can choose to relax by the beach.
Safety:
- Dalian boasts of its low crime rate. Fights occasionally happens but with no visitors’ involvement. US tourists should avoid any heated arguments. Pickpockets are common, so extra care is necessary.
