- Helsinki is Finland’s capital city. It presents an international metropolis while at the same time retains a quiet small-town feel.
- The city is surrounded by sea along with a vast archipelago. Some of the most admirable features of the city lie in its diverse set of churches as well as its wide array of museums. The Church in the Rock and Museum of Cultures are among the examples.

- Life in Helsinki is filled with many reasons to smile. Influenced by its amazing history, the city gives US tourists a breathtaking feeling through its natural beauty and made even more special due to its friendly people.

- Living in Helsinki is neither cheap nor expensive. It can be cheaper than London, Berlin and other large cities and can be similar with Stockholm.
- Sit down meals cost $12 in an inexpensive restaurant. Fast food meals are pretty much the same. Midrange restaurants offer meals for two persons at $64 which already contain three courses.

- Online poker is legal. Casinos are also present but taxes may apply and usually depends on the location of the tournament.

- The internet speed in Helsinki is standard for work and other businesses. It is normally fast and available even in public areas.
Weather:
- Helsinki has a very lengthy winter which lasts from October to April. These months are usually dark and freezing. Summer is pleasant as the city displays more of its beauty by the dominance of trees and flowers. It is this time that the beaches are dotted with sunbathers.
- Summer is the best time for US tourists to visit Helsinki. Bars and cafes are flocked with both locals and foreigners.

- Traveling to Helsinki is easy for US tourists as they are allowed to stay up to three months without the need of a visa.
Language:
- Eighty six percent of the population speaks Finnish while 6% speaks Swedish. Most people speak both these languages.

- Helsinki is known to own Finland’s best cosmopolitan restaurants. The best time to try out their meals is during lunch when many restaurants have affordable lunch sets.
- Budget selection of food is unfortunately limited to fast food and probably a couple of eateries.
Recreation:
- One of the most-anticipated activities in Helsinki is its festivals. Months of celebrations start in April until August. However, US tourists can do almost anything they want in the city. Outdoor options are excellent especially with its country being three times larger than Japan yet its inhabitants are only about 5.5 million.
- Amusements parks, beaches and sports activities are a few of what tourists can make themselves busy with in Helsinki.
Safety:
- With Finland being one of the safest countries in the world, Helsinki keeps its good record of safety. However, there are still reports of pickpockets targeting crowds.
