• Being the capital of Ireland, Dublin stands in its remarkable vitality, thrilling nightlife and a great selection of tourist attractions. It is the entry point of many international visitors to the country.

The Life:

• Despite the small size of Dublin, it is considered as among the most pulsating cities in Europe. Additionally, it is also a very expensive city. Air fares tend to be low but travelers are usually surprised with the prices in the city.
• Behind the elegant and luxurious life in Dublin are hidden gems in the form of attractions. They may need effort to be located though but is worth it all.

Cost of Living:

• It is pretty expensive to stay in Dublin, almost double the price as that in North America. Fast food meals cost $10 while a meal from an inexpensive restaurant is priced at $16. Midrange restaurants offer a meal for two at $87.
• Accommodation is somewhat costly too. A single bedroom outside the city center costs about $960 per month while inside the city would cost about $1300. Three-bedroom apartments have a price range of $1470 to $2180.

• Dublin takes pride in its decent selection of casinos. Online poker in Ireland is fully legal which makes it quite popular.

Internet Access/Speed:

• There are cheap internet cafes that offer reliable internet connection. These cafes also provide well-maintained computers in Dublin. The speed is sufficient to play poker.
• Wi-Fi free access is also available in public libraries, bars and restaurants.

Weather:

• Winters in the city are mild but frost is expected during the months of November to February. Summers are also mild with 29°C as the hottest temperature recorded in Dublin. Thunderstorms occasionally occur.
• Although it is a dry city, some tourists don’t find it an ideal place for active outdoors.

U.S. Visa/Entry Difficulty Level:

• US tourists do not need any visa when entering Dublin. But should be prepared with their passport and travel documents.

• English is widely spoken in the city.

• There are many international banks in Dublin. Central Bank of Ireland is among these financial institutions.

Food:

• There is a wide variety of good quality dining places in the city. However, they can terribly be pricey. Wine is generally expensive as well.
• Indian restaurants offer excellent-valued meals. Other restaurants serving Asian cuisine are available too. Surprisingly, local cuisine is almost non-existent.

Recreation:

• Dublin has a wonderful selection of pubs and clubs that suit most tastes.
• Aside from the active nightlife in the city, it also has a number of affluent suburbs. Visiting these places will give US tourists the chance to get the real feel of Dublin’s culture and identity.

Safety:

• By American standards, Dublin is pretty safe. However, similar to other large cities, crimes are present usually against a person like muggings, unprovoked attacks and different types of robberies.
