- The large country of Italy is considered to be the origin of Western culture. High art as well as stunning monuments make the country such an amazing place to visit. The world has known the place as home to delicious cuisine, stylish fashion and luxury sports vehicles.


The Life:
- Life in Italy can be very different depending on the location of the place. North Italy is richer and more urbanized along with its booming industries.
- Artistic treasures, however, fill the country. Its art and culture are incomparable and highly valued by its people.
- Everyday life in this country may be slower than that in America and more importance is given to family over work.
Cost of Living:
- Living in Italy can be expensive in some places and cheap in other smaller towns. Typically, fast food meals cost $9 while inexpensive restaurants offer meals at $20. Midrange restaurants present meals for two at $63.50.
- Although hotels are available, renting an apartment may be more practical especially when taking a longer vacation. Single-room apartment costs range from $600 to $800 while rooms for three persons are priced at $1100 to $1500.

Internet Access:
- The law of the country requires a record of all the websites viewed in public-access internet areas. Identification is also necessary otherwise will be refused of Internet use.
- Internet providers are not allowed to make their wireless access available to the public unless licensed by the government. Hotels provide Internet access though.
Weather:
- Weather in Italy is pretty much similar that that of Mediterranean countries – hot and dry during summer. August is its hottest month. Some regions in Italy, specifically the south, may not have any rainfall in summer
- Winters can be cold and are often with snow. It is the country’s long mountain ranges that significantly affect the weather, so conditions may be very different from town to town.
U.S. Visa/Entry Difficulty Level:
- No visa will be required from US tourists when traveling to Italy. Usual requirements include: passport, return ticket along with a proof of sufficient funds.
Language:
- Italian is the country’s official language and is spoken by the almost everyone. English is generally spoken at different proficiency levels.
Language Schools:
- Anyone interested in learning Italian will find several options. Rome has Duquesne University and Temple University offering language courses. But US tourists are advised to have their language study in small towns where English can be hardly spoken.
Food:
- US tourists must take note that Italian food in the country is not the same as what is served in America. For example, it may be noticeable that Italian pasta comes in countless sauces and not just tomato and alfredo. Compared to the serving in America, sauce in Italian pasta can be lesser.
- Some of their greatest specialties consist of: Risotto, Arancini, Polenta, Gelanto and Tiramisù. Pizzas are often a quick as well as convenient meal making pizza shops scattered in the place.
Recreation:
- Italy has so much to offer that even sightseeing attractions are confusing as to which ones to get started with. Each city will have its own set of interesting locations coupled with many other things to do and see. The Etruscam Museum should be on top of priorities.
- In case US tourists get tired of sightseeing, beaches can be an alternative. However, unlike many countries, beaches in the country are not free for everyone.
- Wine is another factor which made Italy famous in the world, courtesy of its must-see vineyards offering such a breathtaking scene. US tourists can choose to avail of the service tours of several companies which normally offer meals and accommodation.
- Cycling tours are other deals of companies which bring US tourists to the countryside of Italy. Cycles will be provided together with a guide. These tourists vary depending on the tourists’ interest.
- Sailing is another recreational activity which opens the way to discoveries of the beautiful islands of Italy like Sardinia and Sicily.
Safety:
- Petty crimes can become a problem for travelers who are not cautious. US tourists must be warned that pickpockets work in pairs or in teams sometimes with the support and participation of street vendors.
- Violent crimes are rated moderate but will have to convince tourists to be very careful especially at night.
