Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo, Japan

  • With more than twelve million people, Tokyo is the center of the world’s most populated area known as Greater Tokyo.
  • The city is acknowledged to be huge, wealthy and very interesting. It magnificently conveys high-tech visions about the future together with wonderful glimpses of its old historic country.

The Life:

  • A great collection of cities rather than a single one, Tokyo is fascinatingly vast. Its districts significantly differ in terms of character. As each district offers entirely different and unique features, it actually allows tourists to simply move to the next district if they are not so convinced to explore a certain area.

Cost of Living:

  • Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world. However, US tourists can find cheaper places to live or hang out in the city. It’s pretty much fast and easy to burn cash so better be ready for more than enough.
  • Apartments may be difficult to find and may need tourists to give one or two months’ rent deposit.
  • Fish is really cheap plus delicious! Fruits and vegetables, however, could be expensive, the same with beer.
  • However, San Francisco and New York visitors will not find much difference in their expenses than back home.

Poker:

  • Poker is legal but there are no live poker tournaments except for a few home games. Live poker is oftentimes hard to find and with expectations of some yazuka control.

Internet Speed:

  • Internet is obviously stable in Tokyo.

Weather:

  • Tokyo owns four distinct seasons. Hot and humid best describes summer in the city while winters are normally mild.

U.S. Visa/Entry Difficulty Level:

  • US tourists do not need a tourist visa for up to three-month stay.
  • Flights are generally expensive. Deals are possible but not the same as to the standards of budget Asian airlines.

Banking:

  • Sadly, the banking industry in the city may have gotten behind its very advanced technology. Tourists often complain about the unavailability of ATMs that accept their overseas card. Fortunately, foreign banks such as Shinsei Bank and Citibank Japan are already accepting major cards.

Language:

  • Tokyo’s official language is Japanese. There are also many dialects such as Kagoshima spoken by most Japanese.

Language Schools:

Food:

  • There are thousands of restaurants in Tokyo, each of them represents almost every cuisine of all countries in the world.
  • Known simply as ‘sushi’ this is Nigirizushi for Japanese, originated in Tokyo. Monyajaki is another must-try specialty of the city.
  • Due to the numerous restaurants in the place, US tourists can have a lot of options among budget, midrange to super expensive dining places.

Recreation:

  • A crazy amazing city, Tokyo has everything every US tourist can wish for a travel destination. Probably, anything that could come up to mind is possible in the city.
  • Restaurants, clubs, bars, live music, eight-story arcades and more – these are just few of the most fascinating experiences for tourists. But as mentioned, going out can be tremendously costly. Well, that depends on the type of fun to choose.
  • To sum it up, Tokyo has the best things that US tourists can see and experience to which nowhere else in the world is found.

Safety:

  • What else to say, Tokyo is very safe, one of the safest in the world. Police spend most of their time in giving directions and less is spent on fighting crime.
  • Anytime of the day, walking is such a safe activity to do. Some of its districts can be completely placid and fine which can also be a bit scruffy.
